The department of Earth Sciences is looking for a marine bio-geologist to be appointed at the level of Junior Researcher. The researcher will be part of the FP7 program EPOCA and contribute to the question how far ocean acidification has led already to a weight reduction in planktonic foraminifera (calcifying marine organisms). Samples from plankton tows, sediment traps and the sea-floor will be studied for their mass and stable isotope composition.

 

Requirements

We are looking for a candidate (f/m) with a relevant university Masters degree (preferably in the fields of marine bio-geology). Experience in at least one of the fields of:

a)    marine ecology,

b)    marine chemistry,

c)    paleoclimatology;

is expected.

 

Duration of contract

The appointment will be 1,0 fte for an initial period of 24 months.  Appointment for an additional (third) year is envisaged to finish the project with a Ph.D. degree.  Visit our website www.vu.nl/vacatures for a review of working conditions at the VU.

Salary
